The “Easy charging without obstacles: Requirements for barrier-free charging infrastructure” (“Einfach laden ohne Hindernisse: Anforderungen an barrierefreie Ladeinfrastruktur“) guideline, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) and prepared in cooperation with the Verein Sozialhelden e.V. (association of social heroes), was published by the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure at the end of March. It shows how the charging of electric cars can be made barrier-free with regard to charging equipment and charging stations and is aimed at providing orientation for users.

The guide also serves as the basis for a standardisation process that is to take place within the framework of the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN) with the broad participation of relevant stakeholders. This participation process was launched with the publication of the “Business plan for a DIN SPEC project according to the PAS procedure on the topic of ‘Accessible charging infrastructure for electric vehicles’” (“Geschäftsplan für ein DIN SPEC-Projekt nach dem PAS-Verfahren zum Thema ‘Barrierefreie Ladeinfrastruktur für Elektrofahrzeuge’”) and is open for public comment until 25 September: https://www.din.de/de/forschung-und-innovation/din-spec/alle-geschaeftsplaene/wdc-beuth:din21:371932036

Applications for participation and comments on the business plan are invited to be addressed to Christian Goroncy (christian.goroncy@din.de)
