NOW GmbH has begun a transformation process to make best use of its available budget. This process is marked with a change in management.
The ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court of 15 November 2023 on the Second Supplementary Budget Act 2021 and the resulting funding cuts have a considerable impact of the tasks of NOW GmbH. In the framework of an organisational review, these were evaluated and organisational adjustments were developed accordingly. One of the results is that NOW GmbH will focus its profile more sharply in future and prioritise the areas of electric mobility and charging infrastructure. Topics relating to other energy sources (hydrogen and e-fuels in particular) will continue to be worked on in order to maintain strategic connectivity.
As part of the restructuring of the federally-owned GmbH, the shareholder, represented by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, has decided to place company management in new hands: By the resolution of the Supervisory Board dated 30 August 2024, Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff was removed as Managing Director and Spokesperson of NOW GmbH. Dagmar Fehler, hitherto Head of Battery-Electric Mobility & Charging Infrastructure and Head of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, will assume the position of Managing Director on an interim basis.
The Chairperson of the NOW Supervisory Board, Heike Seefried, expressed her thanks for previous collaboration by saying: “Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff has led NOW GmbH since May 2020. He has tackled the tasks of NOW with energy and shepherded the company through tough times. He is a passionate advocate of climate-friendly mobility and has supported the work of the federal government in a decisive manner on more than one occasion. We thank him for his constructive collaboration and wish him all the best for the future. The appointment of Dagmar Fehler as Interim Managing Director represents a compelling interim solution. With her experience and expertise, she will successfully shape the transformation process. I look forward to working with her.”
The change in management marks the beginning of a strategic and organisational process of change for NOW GmbH. The goal is to position the federally-owned company for the future as a lean, specialist organisation for charging and refuelling infrastructure with a focus on electric mobility.
