The planning tool for charging infrastructure provides exclusive data for regional network expansion to support operators in the integration of electric mobility.
The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure of NOW GmbH has developed the StandortTOOL further specifically for network operators: With immediate effect, they have their own login, which provides access to comprehensive data for forward-looking network expansion planning. With over 850 network operators in Germany, the electricity grids must be carefully prepared and expanded for the ramp-up of e-mobility – the StandortTOOL provides important decision-making information for this. Registration and use are free of charge.
The new network operator login provides access to detailed forecast data on future energy and power requirements for electric mobility. Not only are the charging requirements for passenger cars taken into account, but also the specific requirements of commercial vehicles. The information can be retrieved specifically for each network area and is presented in graphical form. An additional map shows the requirements for passenger cars and trucks down to the level of individual municipalities. The data can be used to create network expansion plans and future scenarios that outline the possible development of electricity generation and consumption at the local level.

In December 2024, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure already added a range of functions designed specifically for local authorities to the StandortTOOL. They can use the tool to analyse relevant data on the existing charging infrastructure and demand in their area and to plan new charging locations.
About StandortTOOL
The StandortTOOL is the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure’s planning tool for a Germany-wide charging infrastructure. It supports federal states, municipalities and network operators in planning the expansion at the local level and provides the general public with information on demand, the current situation and expansion activities. Users can switch between the topics of car charging infrastructure, truck charging infrastructure and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in the StandortTOOL. They can use various filters to show or hide the information on a map or use the dashboard function, which provides a clear graphical display of the data.
