Today, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure has published a new guideline for the installation of private charging infrastructure in multi-apartment buildings. It is aimed at owner occupiers, tenants and landlords who are planning to set up charging facilities at multi-party buildings. Among other things, the new guideline offers step-by-step instructions for establishing charging solutions in multi-apartment building settings.
In order to support the ramp-up of electric mobility in Germany, the expansion of the public and private charging infrastructure must take place in advance. A charging option at one’s own home makes e-mobility more appealing, because charging at home is particularly easy, convenient and inexpensive. According to the latest forecasts of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, the share of private charging operations will be somewhere in the range of 63 to 81 percent in the next few years.
Lawmakers have adapted the legal framework on the subject of charging infrastructure, thus also facilitating the installation of charging points at residential buildings. For example, flat owners now have a right to approval for the installation of charging infrastructure at their own parking space. The new guideline covers topics such as legal rights and consent requirements, cost absorption, approval processes, grid connection requirements and the control of charging infrastructure, and explains important legal regulations as well as basic technical terms.
Johannes Pallasch, Spokesperson of the Management Team at the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure: “Even for electric car users who live in apartment buildings, charging should be as easy as possible. With the new guideline, the Centre for Charging Infrastructure provides the necessary basic knowledge for the installation in a concentrated format and gives practical tips for the planning and implementation of charging stations at residential buildings.”
