Nationale Leitstelle Ladeinfrastruktur

The new Pro-Charging online platform has been launched to support and accelerate the development of charging infrastructure in Luxembourg. With Pro-Charging, those offering and those looking for sites for the expansion of charging infrastructure can find each other.

The new platform in Luxembourg was developed as part of an international cooperation and is based on the German FlächenTOOL of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, which works on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) under the umbrella of the federally owned NOW GmbH.

The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure has provided a free-of-charge licence for the use of FlächenTOOL to its European partner Klima-Agence. Pro-Charging is provided by Klima-Agence from Luxembourg on behalf of the Luxembourg Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning and the Ministry of Economic Affairs in cooperation with the innovation agency Luxinnovation.

Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport: “The use of electric cars across borders must also be easily possible and without any hassle. That is why we are thinking beyond national borders when it comes to the expansion of the charging infrastructure. Germany and Luxembourg both face the challenge of land availability when it comes to development projects, and now they have a joint solution: Pro-Charging is an excellent example of German-Luxembourg cooperation for the expansion of charging infrastructure in Europe.”

Claude Turmes, Minister for Energy and Spatial Planning of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: “A dense network of charging points is an essential prerequisite for the decarbonisation of transport. With the help of Pro-Charging, we will be able to further simplify and accelerate the expansion of the charging infrastructure in Luxembourg. This German-Luxembourgian cooperation is therefore another important contribution towards climate-friendly mobility in Europe.”

Pro-Charging and FlächenTOOL work according to the same principle: The platform can help establish the connection between suppliers of potential charging station locations and those seeking them. It enables stakeholders such as municipalities, companies, private individuals, project developers or investors who want to set up charging infrastructure to get in touch with each other.

For this purpose, parties offering locations can register their sites via the online tool. All registered locations are displayed on an interactive map. The search function or various filter criteria can be used to search specifically for sites in certain regions or with certain sizes and characteristics. In addition, investors can create profiles and in this way draw attention to their interest in the development of charging infrastructure.

The Luxembourg Pro-Charging platform is available to users in three languages: German, English and French. In Germany, around 1,070 sites are currently registered in FlächenTOOL, which was launched in November 2020. It is now also possible to register sites on Pro-Charging. The tools are linked to each other, so that it is possible to view the sites available in the other country.

Johannes Pallasch, Spokesperson of the Management Team of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure: “We have developed FlächenTOOL in order to help electric car users obtain a comprehensive, demand-oriented and user-friendly charging infrastructure as quickly as possible. After the launch of Pro-Charging in Luxembourg, we see great potential to offer the possibilities of the tool and the know-how behind it to other European countries in order to advance climate-friendly e-mobility across borders.”
