  • BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH (BMS) is opening the first Deutschlandnetz site in Bavaria.
  • Four BayWa Mobility Charging hyperchargers with an output of up to 400kW are now available in Gubenerstraße in Augsburg.
  • The fast deployment is also thanks to the close cooperation with the network operator swa Netze GmbH Augsburg.

The expansion of the locations for the Deutschlandnetz national charging network for Germany is picking up speed. Yesterday, the first charging park in Bavaria commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV – Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr) was opened by the project participants. The four new hyperchargers at Gubenerstraße 7 in Augsburg are being built and operated by BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG. “I am delighted that we are able to open the first German network charging park in Bavaria today,” said Christian Krüger, Managing Director of BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH, at the opening ceremony. “In close cooperation with our network operator swa Netze, we have achieved a real sprint in terms of connecting to the grid. This confirms us as a newcomer in the CPO business and shows how well BMS is anchored in the market and in the municipalities.”

With the Deutschlandnetz, the BMDV is creating 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. They are being created in rural regions, in cities and at unmanaged motorway service areas. With a total of 2.3 billion euros, the Deutschlandnetz is the BMDV’s largest funding programme in the area of charging infrastructure. On behalf of the BMDV, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure plays an important coordinating role in the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements and data monitoring of the sites.

Dagmar Fehler, Co-Head of the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure: “With the newly opened charging park, the Deutschlandnetz is taking shape location by location. This is the next milestone and great news for electric car drivers. From today, they will find a new attractive charging option in Augsburg. More than 1,000 locations with around 9,000 ultra-fast charging points in the Deutschlandnetz are currently being realised and will help to expand the charging infrastructure throughout Germany in a comprehensive, needs-based and user-friendly manner in the future. Every newly opened location brings us closer to our goal of making climate-friendly e-mobility a success.”

Ideal connection between the B17 and A8 motorways

With the four new hyperchargers from BayWa Mobility Charging, customers in the Augsburg industrial area now have eight charging points including cable management and a fast charging capacity of 400 kW at their disposal. Well frequented thanks to the surrounding infrastructure and in the immediate vicinity of the B17 arterial road, with direct access to the A8 motorway, the new charging park is located on a strategically important transport artery. This closes a previous ‘white spot’ in the Germany-wide car charging network in the Augsburg East Oberhausen / Neusäß area.

Convenient parking & charging around the clock

Three-metre-wide, paved parking spaces and a 4.5-metre-wide, barrier-free parking space ensure convenient parking and charging at the eight charging points. For those who want to pass the short time while charging, they can use the public Wi-Fi facilities on site. Thanks to camera surveillance, security is also guaranteed in the evening hours. Payment can be made with debit and credit cards, conveniently via app, or with all standard charging cards.
