E.ON Opens Germany Grid Facility in Bindlach Near Bayreuth

In Bindlach near Bayreuth in Upper Franconia, E.ON is putting six fast-charging stations, each with two charging points, into operation as part of the German network. Twelve e-vehicles can be charged with at least 200 kW and up to 400 kW charging power. This means that modern e-cars are ready for their next journey within around 20 minutes.

The location is conveniently located in the immediate vicinity of the A9 freeway and the B2 federal highway in the Bindlach industrial estate at Esbachgraben 10. The good connections make the location ideal for charging stops for commuters and tourists. The location is equipped with seating, a drinks and snack vending machine and a self-cleaning toilet facility.

Modern setup with designer roofs, photovoltaic system and sanitary facilities
As at all E.ON Drive Infrastructure locations, e-car drivers in Bindlach can charge their vehicles with 100 percent electricity from renewable sources. To support sustainable operation, the three roofs have photovoltaic systems with a total rated output of 27 kilowatt peak. The energy generated is used directly for charging on site.

Wide parking spaces for convenient charging
Charging processes can be conveniently started and paid for using standard charging cards and charging apps or a credit card terminal at the charging station. The location in Upper Franconia is designed in the so-called L setup of the German network and thus offers a total of 12 charging stations. An extra-long charging station (3 × 7 meters) is available for commercial vehicles such as electric vans or electric cars with trailers. For added convenience, some charging bays are designed as drive-through solutions so that no maneuvering is necessary.

Germany network: nationwide fast-charging infrastructure
With the German network, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) is working with charging station operators to create 9,000 additional fast charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. In total, the BMV is investing around 2.3 billion euros in the construction and operation of the locations. These are being built in rural regions, in cities and at unmanaged highway service areas.

The National Charging Infrastructure Control Center supports the implementation of the German network on behalf of the BMV and under the umbrella of NOW GmbH and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements and data monitoring of the locations.
