FlächenTOOL: Bavaria Makes 100 State-Owned Plots Available

The National Charging Infrastructure Coordination Center’s “FlächenTOOL” continues to expand: The Free State of Bavaria is contributing approximately 100 state-owned properties to the expansion of publicly accessible charging infrastructure.

To this end, the Free State has already identified around 100 suitable locations—such as government offices, educational institutions, and cultural facilities. Since July 2026, these sites have been available in the FlächenTOOL. Companies can find a consolidated list of suitable locations here and apply through the Free State of Bavaria’s management system. This shortens the path from available space to charging points and accelerates the expansion of public charging infrastructure.

By making state-owned properties available, Bavaria is sending a clear signal in support of the expansion of electric mobility and creating additional conditions for a comprehensive, publicly accessible charging network. Other federal states, such as Baden-Württemberg and Saxony, are also already supporting the FlächenTOOL with their own properties.

About the FlächenTOOL

FlächenTOOL is the digital matching platform of the National Charging Infrastructure Coordination Center, operated by NOW GmbH. Sites available for the development of charging infrastructure can be entered into the tool and discovered by investors, who can then contact site providers directly through the platform. The goal is to provide all market participants with low-threshold, free access to available sites. The FlächenTOOL launched in November 2020 and has since served as a model even beyond Germany’s borders: In Luxembourg and Austria, similar platforms are based on the same successful matching approach.
