Federal Minister Schnieder presents „Charging infrastructure master plan 2030“ presented
Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder presented the new „Charging Infrastructure Master Plan 2030“ at the Federal Ministry of Transport's (BMV) charging infrastructure conference today. The Federal Cabinet had approved the master plan the day before. It forms the central strategic framework of the federal government for the further expansion of the charging infrastructure in Germany.
Federal Minister of Transport Schnieder: „Our strategy for expanding the charging infrastructure in the coming years is in place. With the new Charging Infrastructure Master Plan 2030, the German government is underlining its determination to make electromobility a success and charging as commonplace as refueling. Our goal is clear: anyone who wants to charge must be able to charge - conveniently, easily and everywhere in Germany. The measures in the Charging Infrastructure Master Plan 2030 will improve the charging offer for customers. At the same time, they should make it easier for the charging industry to offer attractive products. The task now is to implement the measures consistently and swiftly. Today's charging infrastructure conference is a great start to this.“
The master plan comprises 41 specific measures aimed at further improving the investment, approval and usage conditions for the development of charging infrastructure. These include strengthening competition in the charging offer, more transparency in charging prices and better integration of the charging infrastructure into the electricity grid. The master plan also provides important impetus for innovations such as bidirectional charging.
A central component is the BMV's new funding programs for charging infrastructure in multi-party buildings, at depots and in commercial depots.

Around 500 participants are discussing the implementation of the master plan and current trends in electromobility at the BMV Charging Infrastructure Conference in Berlin today. The conference is taking place for the fourth time and is organized by NOW GmbH and the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure. In addition to the presentation of the master plan, highlights include the keynote speech by Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, as well as a high-ranking panel discussion with Federal Minister Schnieder, Hildegard Müller (VDA), Kerstin Andreae (BDEW) and Jeroen van Tilburg (IONITY). Other panels will focus on the expansion of municipal charging infrastructure and the charging of electric trucks by 2030.
Johannes Pallasch, Head and Spokesperson of the National Charging Infrastructure Control Center under the umbrella of NOW GmbH: „We now have a well-developed public charging network in Germany with more than 180,000 charging points. And with every new charging point that is built, our vision of ‚Simply Charging‘ becomes more of an everyday reality. The transition to climate-friendly mobility is happening now, but we must also actively shape it so that it happens faster and also reaches a wider audience. The Charging Infrastructure Master Plan 2030 provides the new framework. The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure is pleased to be able to support the BMV in implementing the measures.“
At the conference, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure will be presenting several new services that have been developed on behalf of the BMV, including
- Tender template for municipalities to set up charging infrastructure on site
- the new dashboard „Car charging infrastructure MONITORING“ with current data and analyses of the public charging infrastructure in Germany
The conference will be recorded and published after the event on the Youtube channel of NOW GmbH made available.
